What a year 2017 has been! I’m sure there have been Trials and Tribulations at every level of life for each and every one of you. The destruction that Cyclone Debbie brought our region was the worst that had been seen for quite some time. The heart ache at witnessing Jonathon Thurston’s season ending shoulder injury in Origin 2. The disappointment of the North Queensland Cowboys bowing out of the Grand Final for some was just the final nail in the coffin for 2017. However through these tough times, silver linings always seem to appear. Another Origin Series Win for Queensland. Richmond winning their first flag in 37 Years. Paul McCartney brining his music back to Brisbane for the first time in 42 Years! AN ELTON JOHN CONCERT IT MACKAY!! In review the 2017 year hasn’t been so bad I guess.
From the middle of December onward, we are generally inundated through various media outlets with the ‘Year In Review’ stories and for the most part they are a light hearted way of reminding ourselves of the good, bad and ugly circumstances that effected the world around us. Even Facebook will throw together a mini 2017 montage for you to look at and reminisce upon. With your valuable time being taken up by reading or watching the year in review, do you think to yourself that you could have spent this time more productively? Could you spend this time working ON your business rather than IN your business?
December and January are great times of the year to take some time and review what has happened for the first half of the financial year. Work loads are usually lower at this time of year which sees available time to review the performance of your business and make any changes for the next 6 months to see that position improve. Some people will have made a plan in June on what they wanted to achieve – now is the time to review that plan and track your actual progress against the plan. Others didn’t plan in June which means January is a perfect time to create a mini plan for the remainder of the financial year whilst reviewing what was achieved for the first half of the year. Either way a half year review is a great way to catch any problems that may be surfacing this year and make the corrections to improve the result going forward.
Finally, this time of the year is perfect to spend with Family and Friends. Whether you be in the Traditional Roast Lunch or the more modern Seafood Lunch camps, it’s a great time to reflect on the year with those close to you.
From all of the Staff and Partners at CBG Partners, we hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
